A “regatta” means a sporting event consisting of a series of boat or yacht races.
So why is there a picture of people playing drums?
Because it’s the Asian Drum Challenge!
Above is Rhythm Masala!!! Fusion Percussion Group in Singapore who holds the Guinness World of Records for 50hrs Non-Stop Drumming Marathon in 2004.
Ova Formula – The Champion for 2014!
One Ultimatum – 2nd Runner Up.
I was there for the 2.30pm bumboat ride, but it was raining and the races got cancelled 😦
But I’ve already made my way there so I decided to hang around. Then I saw this!
Marina Bay Sands and the Raffles Place skyscrapers in the midst of rain clouds!! How cool! Looks like Genting! Hahaha!
I took the above with my iPhone cos it’s faster (the clouds don’t stay there forever) and I’m terribly bad with my manual settings.
After that I went to Asian Drum Challenge tent and enjoyed the performances by the team.
Saw that the rain stopped outside, so I went to snap some pictures of the teams.
I didn’t stay for the international racers as it was getting late (think they started at 6pm).
Bought a Ramly burger ($3.50) and a mineral water ($1.20) at the Asian Food Festival. Thanks DBS for keeping prices affordable lol.
At least the bottle of mineral water wasn’t $4 like some concert festivals charge.
There was also a cosplay festival going on at the same time but it’s not my type.
There was also a display of fireworks at night! But I didn’t stay for it.
Hope you’ve enjoyed the photos! 🙂
